Customized Pledge Agreements

Customizing your pledge agreements around sound fundraising principles requires:  telling donors how you will use their pledges, allowing them to choose between different giving amounts and programs, and offering alternative pledge payment methods.

A pledge agreement is a document that outlines how much a donor will pledge to give to your organization.  In many cases, it may be as simple as a flyer.

A good pledge agreement will have two parts.  First is a commitment by the organization to outline how they will use the donation and how much money they are attempting to raise.  The second is a commitment by the donor outlining what amount they will give, when they will give, and how their donation will be made.

A third part must be added when donors choose to use electronic payment methods.  Pledge or billing processing information must be obtained as well as the authorization to use it.

Finally, you can have multiple pledge agreements.  Most organizations have multiple causes they support.  Likewise, most donors will support multiple causes.
